Rector of the Polytechnic Ibadan, Professor Olatunde Fawole has said over 65,000 candidates applied for admission into both the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes in the Institution for the 2015/ 2016 academic session but only 4,117 could be admitted.
Professor Fawole dropped this hint while speaking at the matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted students asserting that the 4,117 offered admission cut across the five Faculties in the institution.
Breaking down the number of the newly admitted students, the Rector said 2,500 students were admitted out of the 59, 254 that applied  for the ND programmes while 1,617 students were admitted out of 6,379 applicants for the HND courses.
Professor Fawole however cautioned the new students to be mindful of the rules and regulations that guide them and steer clear of acts capable of tarnishing the institution’s image.
“Students are expected to respect the rule and regulations of the institution as breaching of these would attract appropriate sanctions,” he said.
The Rector stressed further that the students should be rest assured that all the courses and programmes in the institution have been duly accredited and approved by relevant agencies adding that the institution will not compromise on its impressive image.
“To this end, the institution would not compromise its hard-earned impressive image for any damaging misconduct from any student, in this institution, Diploma certificates are earned through rigorous academic exercise and sound moral attitude” he stressed.
