The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced tomorrow, Thursday February 11 as the election date for Osun State NUJ Council elections.
According to a statement issued from the office of NUJ Vice President, B – Zone, Comrade Cosmos Olalekan Oni, made available to journalists in Ibadan, the date was picked after the final clearance of candidates and membership list for the elections.
“Following the final clearance of candidates and membership list which was concluded on Monday,8th February by the NUJ National Secretariat, the election processes are to commence on today 10th February with a manifestoes night by 5pm”
The VP Zone “B” added that the election proper is to come up on tomorrow between 9am and 3pm.
He then solicited the support of Osun NUJ members in ensuring a peaceful, free and fair election.
“Journalists in the state are hereby directed to comport themselves maturely during and after the election. They should shun any act of violence and unprofessional behaviour,” he said.
