Operation Yaki recovers 59, 515 animals, arrests 174 suspected cattle rustlers in one year

The Joint Operation Yaki outfit has recovered a total number of 59, 515 animals and arrested 174 Suspects  cattle rustlers with dangerous weapons in their possession within the last one year, the Special Adviser on Internal Security and Coordinator Joint Operation Yaki Kaduna state, Col. Yakubu Yusuf (rtd) has said.
He disclosed this Wednesday in Kaduna while addressing newsmen saying, the animals recovered which include
30, 000 Cattle, 20,000 Sheeps, 9,000 Goats, 500 Donkeys were all returned to the rightful owners after satisfying the laid down terms and condition of the Committee set up by Governor El-Rufai to oversee the returning process.
According to him, over 77 suspected armed robbers, 59 kidnappers, a total number of 256 miscreants name ‘Sara-suka/Yan-shara’ amongst others, were arrested from various communities across the state and investigation into their crime is ongoing.
The coordinator added that under the period in review, the arms and ammunitions as well as other dangerous weapons, variety of intoxicants and large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered during the outfit’s operations and handed over to the Police for further investigation.
He noted that following the appreciable successes recorded in the arrest  of bandits, cattle rustlers, kidnappers amongst others, the criminals were becoming daring,  putting up resistance by laying ambushes for the operatives which normally result in casualties on the part of the operative.
“Governor in his magnanimity and doggedness to further fight crime and criminalities in all ramification, is set to purchase 1000 bullet proof vest and helmets in order to safeguard the lives as well as boost the morale of the officers of Operation Yaki.
According to the Adviser, work is also in progress to install CCTV cameras across the state and the procurement of Unmanned Ariel Vehicle (UAV), provision of modern crime detecting devices as well as training of operatives to man the equipment in order to provide city wide surveillance and improve security in the state.
He however attributed the achievement recorded in past one year to the commitment and support of the state Government in the provision of the necessary logistics for the operative of the joint outfit.
