“One Voice” Protest: Nigerians Tired Of Hardship In The Land – Activists To FG

Members of the Oyo Voice Group and other Human Rights groups on Monday staged protest round Ibadan  over the current.  hardships in the country under the present All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Addressing the protesters, while moving round the streets and markets within Ibadan metropolis, Convener of Oyo Voice Group, Comrade Babatunde Badmus asked Nigerians to be vigilant and be ready to support the One Voice to salvage the country.
Comrade Badmus declared that Nigerian masses are tired of the present situation in the country and need the way out adding that the protest was to “tell the government that Nigerians masses are tired about the way things are going.
“This is to tell the government that Nigerians masses are tired, we are tired on the way things are going.
Nigerians should be vigilant and be ready to support the One Voice to salvage the country from this traumatic way and callous way our leaders are running the country” he said.
The Oyo Voice Group stressed that there is the task for Nigerians to be fully prepared and choose a government that will have their interest at mind, saying,“we deem it fit to come here today to aware the consciousness of Nigerians to pursue the fundermental human rights vested on us”,
“What we belief is what a good governance should be, a government that will have the interest of the people at mind, a government that will provide basic amenities for the people, a government that will priotize education, a government that will pay workers as at when due, a government that will obey the social contract theory. They should change from their own cruel manner of government, we know the Nigerian government to be very callous and wicked in all its actions, we are saying that today is not the end of the protest and I am assuring you that the response we got from Bodija market is encouraging. And we are still saying that the market women and men are supporting us”.
The protest was led by human rights activists including Barrister Femi Aborisade and Abiodun Bamgbose and ex-UI SU Presidents Tokunbo Salako and Babatunde Badmus kicked off at about 8a.m with the human right activists leading several protesters round streets and areas within Ibadan metropolis where market men and women at Bodija market, residents of Agbowo, Orogun, Bodija as well as passerby and commuters were addressed on need for the protest
Also,students, labour leaders, human rights crusaders and members of the Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM)Oyo Navigators, CSOs armed with placards having inscriptions such as ‘Enough is Enough’, ‘We want Legislators not Legistloters, ‘Occupy Nigeria’, ‘Where is Our President’, ‘Where Are Our Campaign Promises’ and ‘Is This The Change’ among others were not left out of the protest.
The over four hours protest was monitored by heavly armed policemen, men of the Department of State Service and other security agencies.
