One Dies As Police Foils Attack On Dangote Refinery

A suspected armed robber has reportedly died in a gun duel as police operatives foiled a robbery attack on Dangote Refinery in Lagos.
The hoodlum, who was hit during in cross fire, was said to have died while being conveyed to the hospital.
Our correspondent gathered that the hoodlums, numbering about 20, invaded the refinery located at Lekki Free Trade Zone area of the state at the early hours of Monday.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident in a release on Tuesday.
It reads,  ” Security operatives in the early hours of yesterday Monday March 28, 2022 foiled an attempted attack on Dangote Refinery, Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos. Armed hoodlums numbering about twenty who gained access to the refinery through the lagoon side were repelled while attempting to cart away already-installed armored cables in the refinery. The hoodlums on sighting security operatives fled the scene. One of the hoodlums was hit in the ensuing gunfire and died on the way to the hospital. Investigation has commenced with a view to arresting the fleeing attackers. Meanwhile, on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi fdc, minm, psc, security at the refinery has been fortified”.
