Few Hours after the dramatic purported impeachment of the Speaker, Ondo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele’, the Leadership of the House told Journalists that status quo remains.
Addressing a Press Conference, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Olamide George described the dramatic impeachment as ”normal internal arrangement”.
It was gathered that ”some sizeable number of Ondo State House of Assembly” met on Tuesday around 11;00 am and resolved to impeach the Speaker.
But it was later discovered that due to the intervention of the Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, there was a twist in the previous decision to sack the first female Speaker’ in the Sunshine Assembly of Hope.
Out of 26 Honourable Members of the House, 18 members signed the impeachment paper comprising of 13 PDP and all the five APC members.
The Chairman House Committee on Information, who was supported by one of the members of the Committee, Hon. Siji Akindose, later said members had met to review the situation.
His words, ”consequently, resolved to allow the status quo ante on the leadership of Ondo State House of Assembly as at 7th March, 2016 to remain”.
The House of Assembly, he said, remained united, cohesive and alive to its constitutional responsibilities, adding that the issue of leadership of the House is an internal affairs and has been treated as such.
Part of the allegations levelled against the Speaker were incompetency to direct the business of the House, drunkenness, lack of respect,  easy virtue, lack of focus and high handedness among others.

For the Subshine State house of Assembly Speaker, it was a moment of impeachment and reinstatement with high wired, deft political moves. This may signal relationships in the House in the days ahead. For now, uneasy is the head that wears the crown.
