The All Progressive Congress (APC), in Ondo state has described the just concluded Local Government election in the state as mere selection of candidates by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
This position was contained in a statement Issued by the Director of Media & Publicity, APC in the State, Mr. Steve Otaloro which was made available to New Nigerian in Akure.
According to him, the outcome of the Local Government Election in Ondo State has vindicated the position of APC that the unpopular Peoples Democratic Party will install their members in all the 18 Local government as Chairman and Councillors.
His words, ”the PDP is the only party that fielded candidates in the election and contested against itself. The party also used deceptive manners to field their party members for some mushroom parties that do not exist in the state. Even when it was evident the election is no contest, they still rigged in huge figures to create the impression of impressive turnout”.
All the names of the chairmen in the eighteen local government councils along with their councillors, he said  had been written down and handed over to the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, (ODIEC) Chairman, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, before the election for eventual announcement after the polls.
The APC image maker disclosed that Ondo State voters apathy towards the exercise was obvious in the extremely low turnout of voters across the state, in most major towns and Communities across the state.
He cited what transpired in some communities where people refused to turn out to vote because of several complaints they have against the PDP-led government which has culminated in the refusal of the government to intervene in the total darkness that has enveloped their areas for many years.
Otaloro said, ”We are glad to see that our (APC) numerous calls for the people to shun the election resonate well with them. We asked the good people of Ondo State who are presently groaning in the economic hardship caused by maladministration of this government not to waste their precious time to vote in a process that the outcome has already been decided ahead of the poll.”.
Rather than wasting their times in the sun, he said, they used the period to stay at home, and remain peaceful as they used the election hours to reflect on the affairs of the state and pray for the deliverance of the state from its present day tormentors.
