As the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State enters its third day, the ousted Chairman, Barr. Isaac D. Kekemeken has re-assumed office and affirmed his control of the party, saying APC remains united and waxing stronger.
The Chairman, at a Press Conference in Akure, accused those decampees from other parties, especially the PDP who are importing their age long antics of causing crisis to achieve their selfish interest to distablise the party.
According to him, APC will pursue its stated objective of conducting a free and fair credible primary by August 27, 2016 to elect a standard flag bearer who can win the November 26, 2016 Governorship election for the party.
While affirming his authority as the party Chairman, he warned trouble makers to desist from corrupting the good manner of APC members across the state.
His words, “my understanding of the situation of Tuesday 16th August, 2016 is that, a few of our members who are active in the social media, wanted to stage a drama for their facebook and whatsapp pictures and stories”.
Adding that, “I believed that it was okay to add some fun to relive the tention generated by the anxiety associated with the party primary scheduled for August 27, 2016, which turned out to allow normal party activities to run”.
He however disclosed that contrary to the believe of mischief makers that he will manipulate the conduct of the primary, Kekemeke said the election will be conducted by the National Headquarters of the party, “from the sales of Forms, through screening, to appointment of officials, from issuance of delegates’ list through the conduct of the primary to announcement of result”.
All these, he said is the exclusive preserve of the National Headquarters, “all the state Executive under my leadership has to do is to just being good to the National Headquarters’.
It would be recalled that some aggrieved party members stormed the party Secretariat on Tuesday, barring Kekemeke from gaining entrance while declaring his purpoted removal and installing an Ex-Officio member, Mr. Saka Yusuf from Akure North as the new Chairman.
Kekemeke urged Saka Yusuf to ”retrace his step and return to the field and let us work for the party, he shouldn’t work with the government party in the state to destroy what we have jointly built together”.
Following threats of attacking him if he attempts to enter the party Secretariat, Kekemeke was ushered in amidst tight security and party loyallists to assume duty on Thursday.
