Ondo Assembly Protests Removal of Jegede’s Name from INEC List

Members of the Ondo state House of Assembly had thrown their weight behind the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 26, Governorship election, Barr. Eyitayo Jegede SAN.
The Lawmakers expressed their displeasure over the replacement of Eyitayo’s name by INEc with Jimoh Ibrahim who they said is not known to PDP in Ondo state.
The Speaker of the House, Right Hon. Jumoke Akindele who briefed Journalists on their position on the Abuja court judgement said, Jimoh Ibrahim is not a member of PDP but a card carrying member of Accord Party.
According to her, the House Members were shocked when a court judgement replaced Jegede for Ibrahim, describing as a coup against the wish of the people of the state who voted for Jegede during the Delegates Congress of September 27, 2016.
She affirmed the fact that Jegede was a product of a due process under the supervision of the  Independent Electoral Commission INEC in Akure, capital of Ondo state.
The Speaker therefore expressed surprise on why a non member of PDP, did their ”kangaroo primary” outside the state without the supervision of INEC could be allowed to contest the Governorship election on November 26, 2016.
Following the judgement of an Abuja High Court, Commercial activities in major cities in the state had been grounded in protest of ”coup ” against the interest of the people.
Hon. Akindele therefore called on President Mohamed Buharj to call his machineries to order so that history could be kind to him by performing his Constitutional duty of maitaining peace across the country.
The Speaker was supported by his Deputy, Hon.Fatai Olotu, Majority Leader, Hon. Ifedayo Akinsoyinu, Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon. Oluwaseyijubomu and other PDP caucus in the House.
