Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West geo-political zone on Tuesday implored politicians to strive to consolidate on the gains of democracy rather than engaging in acts inimical to its sustainability.

In a statement in Akure, the leaders condemned Isaac Kekeme for his alleged careless utterances, warning him to be mindful of his actions.

They described the performance of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as impressive.

“Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is a fantastic chairman. He hates anti-party activities, imposition of candidates into any elective position, corruption and dictatorship.”

They also praised the national chairman of the ruling party for his firm principles, pragmatic approach and belief in the strength of ordinary people.

Signed by the Chairman, Yoruba APC Unity Forum (YAPCUF), Alhaji Ganiyu Alao, the leaders applauded Odigie-Oyegun for showing remarkable enthusiasm for expansion and unity.

“Chief John Odigie-Oyegun is a man of integrity. He is shaping the ruling party, giving consideration to others and conforming to the demands of reason” the leaders said.

The leaders also dismissed the allegations against Odigie-Oyegun.

“No bias is reflected in any of the actions taken by Chief Odigie-Oyegun. The national chairman is guided by the notion of constitutionality, the rule of the party and the consensus of the people. He is not fueling crisis in APC, Ondo State Chapter” the leaders said.

They listed moral and intellectual leadership, internal party unity, effective party structures, electoral victory in the country, improvement in executive/legislative relationship and broad appeal as some achievements of Oyegun.

“Odigie-Oyegun is maintaining peace and consolidating democracy in Nigeria” the party stalwarts said.

They commended President Muhammadu Buhari for creating transparent institutions and showing a high sense of responsibility, discipline and prudence.

The leaders also extolled the virtues of Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, emphasizing his visionary, exemplary and transformational leadership.

They urged Kekemeke and his associates to refrain from unnecessary name calling and work towards finding a way to deal with the differences in the state.

“APC will win in Osun and Ekiti in 2018” the leaders predicted.
