Olubadan charge Nigerians on national unity

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji on Friday advised Nigerians to always uphold the unity of the country and continue to work for its peace and stability.
Oba Adetunji stated this while receiving the Obi of Onitsha, Nnaemeka Achebe and his entourage to his Popoyemoja, palace in Ibadan.
The royal father declared there is the need for all and sundry in Nigeria to ensure that peace reigns supreme in the country by living together as brothers and sisters.
Oba Adetunji pointed out that the relationship between the Yoruba and their Igbo brothers as well as other tribes across the country have always being “very cordial and encouraging”.
Specifically, the Olubadan who declared that the relationship between the Yoruba and Igbo has dated back to several years, added that while the Igbos deserve commendation for their industry and ingenuity, Ibadan has provided educational and residential opportunities for all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and ideological persuasion to be whatever they want to be without hindrances.
Oba Adetunji stressed that the doors of Ibadan would continue to be open to all Nigerians particularly the Igbos to set up their business ventures anywhere in the land and be fairly treated.
Speaking, the Obi of Onitsha, declared that his mission and his entourage was to deliver a lecture, using Ibadan as a case study of peaceful process in transition, saying, Ibadan city is not strange at all to the people of Onitsha who have come here to school, marry and live.
Congratulating the Olubadan on his ascension of the exalted throne of his forefathers in a peaceful manner, he said Olubadan “is one of the foremost traditional rulers whose wealth of experience could be tapped from time to time”.
The High Chiefs that joined Oba Adetunji to welcome Obi of Onitsha include the Otun Olubadan, Senator Lekan Balogun; Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin; Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief (Dr.) Femi Olaifa, and Asipa Olubadan, High Chief Eddy Oyewole while those that accompanied the Obi of Onitsha include Dr. D. D. D Obiora, Chief Prof. Ngozi Okafo, Chief Dr. Chuma Agbakoba and Chief Dr. Gab Olisa Emodi.
