Okeira Senior Grammar School Wins Lagosreads Inter-Schools Quiz Competition

*Ijeshatedo/Ikorodu Senior Schools clinched 2nd/3rd positions respectively

Okeira Senior Grammar school, Ikeja, representing District VI, has emerged the champion of this year 2023 Lagosreads Inter-Schools Quiz competition. 
The competition staged by the Lagos Library Board held inside the Local government service commission training Hall, Old Secretariat, Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA,Ikeja Lagos which attracted six selected public secondary schools in the (6), Education District in Lagos State, saw Okeira School dominating the first and second stanza of the quiz, which was coordinated by Olori Kosoko, to win the giant trophy, certificate and school bags accordingly.  

Second placed, Ijeshatedo Senior High School, Surulere, from District Four, went home with a trophy, certificate and school bags. 

Same applied to  the third position, Ikorodu Senior High School, Ikorodu representing District 11.
Other three participating schools were, District OneIsefun Community Senior Secondary School, Ayobo, 

District Three,  Epetedo High School, Lagos Island, District Three and District Five Iba Housing Estate Senior Secondary School, Iba.
In his goodwill message, special Adviser on Education, Barrister Tokunbo Wahab  represented by the Permanent Secretary, office of the Special Adviser on Education, Adeniran Waheed Kasali  hailed the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, in building and commissioning school projects before the end of its first tenure.
“This is no doubt part of his efforts towards good and sound education to promote reading culture amongst our students in Lagos. 
“As  you can see, Lagos  is leading in the country today, based on the Lagosreads ongoing project initiated by the government of His Excellency, Babaji Sanwoolu”. He Explained.
Earlier, Director, Lagos State Library Board, Asimiyu Amoo Oyadipe,  reiterated that Lagosreads is an initiative geared at improving the reading culture of all Lagosians by enabling facilities and prompting reading programmes and activities in schools as well as public and private library across the state. 
He further explained that reading is an important activity that promotes academic excellence in our schools and the Lagos state Library Board is committed to ensuring that the reading culture in Lagos continue to improved in consonance with Mr. Governor’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda with Education and Technology as the third pillar.
Meanwhile, the quiz was focused on the following subject areas in relationship to the senior secondary certificate Examination (SSCE) syllabus in public secondary schools in the state, Physics, Biology, Government, Economics, Literature in English, English,  Mathematics and Current Affairs.
