Oil Games: NNPC players promise to punish Shell

By; Ayo Ojedokun, Lagos.
Key players and officials of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Football Club are highly optimistic ahead of their Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) Football final against Shell F.C next month at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

After recording 2-0 victory respectively against Petroleum Training Institute, Liquefied Natural Gas and Total Football Clubs in early games decided at the legacy pitch of National Stadium, Lagos, NNPC’s utility player, Joseph Aghelegi boasted that he is certain of a final win against Shell.

The dark skinned Delta born Agbeleghi said he is targeting retirement from the Oil and Gas Industry games with a third gold medal having clinched gold with NNPC on two previous editions of the games.
Agbeleghi said he is banking on his team’s experience, NNPC management’s motivation and technical savvy of Coach Frank Onyiriuka to make his dream of retiring with a third gold medal a reality.
On his part, NNPC’s goalkeeper, John Azanor predicted a 4-0 bashing of Shell, noting that he would ensure the tradition of not conceding a goal in the game since he made his debut in 2007 continues.
“As for me, I want to keep a clean slate. I have won the gold medal on three occasions without conceding a goal.  We beat shell  3-0  in 2010 semi- final at the National Institute for Sports  play ground and I’m certain that NNPC will thrash them again”, declared the Uvwie  Delta State born Azanor who is excited with gold medal wins in 2008, 2010 and 2014.
In a related development, Team Manager of NNPC, Mike Ofenor has vowed to give total moral support to the “Oil Boys” towards outclassing Shell F.C at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Ofenor whose kidnapped 28 years old son was released in Port Harcourt few hours after their 2-0 spanking of Total FC in the Semi -Final last Friday said he enjoys inspiring both players and officials particularly now that he has retired as a player in the Oil and Gas biannual carnival.
