Ogun Customs Intercepts Smuggled Drums Of Diesel, Kerosene, 276 Kegs Of Petrol, Worth  N67.2m

In her effort to curb the menace of smuggling of petroleum products outside the country, the Nigeria Customs Services Ogun Area Command, has intercepted 276 kegs of petrol (PMS), nine drums and 32 kegs of diesel and five drums of kerosene along Idiroko border axis of Ogun State. Disclosing this to journalists at the weekend.

Controller of the command, Comptroller Sanni Madugu said his command will not relent to  check mate efforts of unscrupulous and unpatriotic Nigerians who are determined to enrich themselves illegitimately to the detriment of other Nigerians. Madugu said “

We will continue to explore intelligence and surveillance in monitoring filling stations along the border areas so as to avert any form of diversion. We only appeal to members of the public to be patriotic  and avail us with plausible information, so as to assist in mitigating the menace of smuggling of petroleum products and other prohibited  items”

The Controller also disclosed that officers and men of the command have reinvigorated efforts not only to sustained the tempo achieved last year just as the command started the new year with the seizures of 13 Tokunbo vehicles ,2 means of conveyance,17 motorcycles, and 383 bags of foreign rice.

Others according to Madugu included 50 kg each of sacks of second hand clothing/shoes/bags, 221 kegs of vegetable oil with Duty Paid Value” DPV” of #67,247,153,00 among others within the last two weeks in Idiroko axis of Ogun Area Command.

Madugu however used the opportunity to inform members of the public that the on going electronic system of auctioning of seized items has yielded good result as Ogun Command has o far released two hundred and ninety one (291) vehicles to successful bidders.

“The  assessment and capturing of more seized and condemned vehicles are on going. Hence, you are advice to sensitize interested members of the public to log into e-auction portal to bid for vehicles and other items.”Madugu stressed.

“In the same vein,11,990 bags of 50kg of rice, 1,129 jerry cans of 25 plotters each of vegetable oil and 29 jerry cans of 25 litters each of palm oil were successfully evacuated from both Abeokuta and Idiroko govern,went warehouses by Nigeria Army Transport and Logistic for onward delivery to IDPs in Yobe state.”Madugu further explained.
