Nursing, Midwifery Council Of Nigeria Inducts 162 ABU Graduates

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has inducted 162 graduates of 2019/2020 academic session from the Department of Nursing Science, College of Medical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.
The Secretary General and Registrar of the Council,

Dr. Faruk Abubakar while administering the oath during the induction, tasked the graduands to adhere to ethics of the profession, display humility and honesty in the cause of their duties.
He said the occasion was aimed at celebrating the graduands transition from being nursing students to graduate and registered nurses.
” After the induction your name will be entered into the register of the Council and you will henceforth be addressed as a “Nurse” with the title Registered Nurse(RN) after your name.
” As registered nurses, you have attained a high standard of education with clinical skills that will enable you to render safe and effective health care.
“You will be fully accountable for your own decisions, actions and attitude; you are going to perform nursing skills in a variety of health care settings therapeutically assisting individuals, families and communities with diverse background.
He, therefore, advised the graduands on the need to understand the psychosocial and physical factors involved in alleviation of suffering, promotion, maintenance and restoration of health.
The Registrar also encouraged the graduands to explore available opportunities to acquire higher degrees in nursing.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor Kabiru Bala, ably represented by provost of the College Prof. Mohammed Shehu affirmed that the oath taking ceremony was aimed at committing the graduands to service to humanity.
Similarly, Dr. Dalhatu Sani, Head, Department of Nursing Science said the department has graduated over 200 undergraduate students in the 2019/2020 academic session.
According to him, two students graduated with First Class Honors, 90 obtained Second Class Upper while 16 graduated with third class honors.
He said the department has also graduated 11 PhD students and 31masters students.
