The National President, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comr. Chris Isiguzo has said  that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has performed remarkably well if democracy is all about making impact on the lives of the people.

The NUJ national president was at  NUJ Symposium in Lokoja  on Thursday, organised by the local branch of the union with the theme: “A peep into Gov. Yahaya Bello‘s Seven Years in office and implications for future Administration”.

“In Kogi, you can see a government that is people centered” Comrade Isiguzo said, adding that the Reference Hospital Okene, a world class health infrastructure in the country is a signature of Gov. Bello’s administration that would remain a positive reference for  years to come.

While pointing out that unlike many governors in the country who will instead of bringing such edifice as the reference hospital and others spread across Kogi State, will prefer to travel abroad and build such facilities in other countries, Governor Bello established them for the benefit of his people.

To him,  even the blind knows that the Reference Hospital, the Ganaja flyover  and several other people oriented projects are  indications that there is a government working for the people of the State.

Convinced of workaholic Bello”s administration,  Comr. Isiguzo said that the National Union of Journalists under his Leadership, aligns itself with the submission of the local Council for affirming that Gov. Bello has done well.

While urging journalists to discharge there responsibilities in the forthcoming general election without fear or favour,  comrade Isiguzo charged Journalists to discharge their responsibilities with the aim of enthroning peace and good governance.

He called on  Nigerians,  in their  numbers, to come out en mass to exercise their civic responsibility by  making choices in the forthcoming general elections make will define the Country.

The NUJ President urged journalists to write what will pull people out of poverty, squalor, enthrone peace and good governance, stressing that as Journalists they have only one country they can call their own.

He tasked media professionals in the country not to charge the already charged polity with their reports, insisting on reports that will engender peace building and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the promise of security before, during and after the general elections.
