As athletes representing Oyo State at the on-going National Sport Festival hit 42 medals on Monday December 5, the newly appointed Mother of Sports’ for the Oyo State contingent, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde, has lauded their efforts while charging them to go for more Gold.

Ayinde, Chief Executive Officer of Kayromlee Gym and Fitness Center made a call while reacting to the development while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan saying she will host the athletes to a rousing banquet upon their return if they surpass their past record at the last Festival held in Edo State.

It will be recalled that, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde while addressing the athletes before their departure has advised them to be good ambassadors of the state by doing away with any form of enhancement substance that could tarnish their names and that of Oyo State.

“I am sure they are heeding to the advice I gave them while leaving which is for them to be good ambassadors of Oyo state, the state finished 6th on the medals table at Edo 2021 and I am sure they can do better this time around. Oyo state is known as a pace setter’s State, hence I am going to host them when they return with better laurels”, said the United Nations’ Ambassador of Peace.

Meanwhile the Chairman of Oyo State Sports Council, Hon. Gbenga Adewusi ‘Arole’ has been fulfilling the instant cash reward of N20,000 to Gold medalist, N10,000 and N5,000 for Silver and Bronze medalists respectively he promised to Team Oyo athletes at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta state.

Hon. Adewusi, while addressing the athletes on behalf of the State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde said the Governor is excited with the development in Team Oyo camp and ready to motivate athletes that have won medals and those who are to compete as the event continues.

‘Arole Obasanjo’ as he’s fondly called by political gladiators in the country stressed further that the State Government will not relent in motivating and showing love to athletes representing the state in any sporting competition and will reward them accordingly.

“As you all know that the State Governor through the commissioner for youths and sports promised instant cash rewards to athletes that won gold, silver and bronze medals right here in Delta, we are here again today to fulfill the promise.
