NSCDC to ensure crime free Oyo state in 2016 – Commandant

Oyo State State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr John Oyedokun Adewoye has said the corps is set to ensure a crime free Oyo state in 2016, adding that there will be no threat to the security of lives and property in the state.
The Commandant who dropped this hint during a chat with journalists on the preparations of the NSCDC in Oyo state for the new year asked the people of the state not to entertain any fears about the likely relocation of criminals into the state as a result of the planned deployment of Close Circuit Camera (CCC) in strategic places by the Lagos State Government.
Mr Adewoye pointed out that security agencies in Oyo state were already conscious of the development and well prepared for any eventuality particularly in making Oyo state crime free this year and beyond.
He emphasized that his Command had zero tolerance for crimes in any manner or form and that there was already in existence a collaborative mechanism among all the security agencies in the state to ensure that the residents sleep with their eyes closed.
Speaking further, the Commandant said the Command secured the conviction of 10 vandals of pipelines out of the 37 arrested suspects in 2015,
saying, “out of the cases, 104 were completely resolved, 55 were pending while two cases were closed”,
He stressed that the command through its Peace and Conflict Resolution Department handled 161 cases of disputes involving land, marital, business transactions, relationships, communal, landlords/tenants and other human misunderstandings.
He maintained that the command’s Anti-Fraud section, handled no fewer than 93 cases comprising of land disputes, job racketeering and others during same period.
Mr Adewoye then cautioned commercial motorcyclists in the state against reckless driving on the highways by being more careful in the new year to avoid untimely death among the populace.
