NSCDC apprehends blind suspect for abetting criminal gangs
By; Amos  Mathew, Kaduna.

Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has arrested a blind suspect, Muntari Idris, fondly called Barrister, for harbouring, aiding and abetting criminal gangs  purpotedly involved in cattle rustling, kidnapping and other related crimes ‎in the state.
Idris, 50, was picked alongside Adamu Mohammed by operatives of the Corps at Ungwar-Maigiginya in Igabi Local Government Area of the state after a tip off.
According to NSCDC, investigation so far carried out revealed that the suspect, who claimed to be a businessman in landed property, rather specialises in bailing criminals who indulge in cattle rustling, kidnapping and other criminal acts in Kaduna State.
The blind suspect; Idris who denied involvement in the crime on interrogation, was however implicated by his accomplice, Adamu Mohammed, who confessed that he accompanied Idris many times to secure bail of suspected criminals.
Mohammed pointed out that most of the suspects bailed by Idris were those detained in connection with cattle rustling, kidnapping among others.
Mohammed who pleaded for pardon explained that he was introduced to Idris five years ago by his former boss now late, but when he realized his criminal antics, he advised him to rescind but his ‎counsel was not considered, resulting in their ordeal.
“I wish to duly state that I know my present boss, Idris Barrister as fondly called to be a bailer of offenders especially cattle rustlers and kidnappers particularly last year 2015.
“He asked me to accompany him to State CID twice and many times to Rigasa Station and each time we did, I discovered that he would bail offenders who I realized were suspects of cattle rustling,” Mohammed added.
Mohammed explained further that “upon knowing the aim of Barristers visits, I declined accompanying him into offices rather I wait outside leaving him to be led by relations of the suspects to perfect their bail conditions”, citing the bail of Alhaji Wada, Muhakimi, Iro also known as Zafi as few of such cases.
Meanwhile, the State Commandant, Alhaji Modu Bunu, has handed over the suspects to the State Security Services (SSS) for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commandant has called on parents and guardians to caution their wards against aligning with criminal gangs, warning that NSCDC and other security agencies are doing everything possible to make the state safe and secure for habitation.
