The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has  resumed Kano-Lagos train service on Monday.

The Regional Manager, Northern District,  Mr. Adebiyi Ismail.  in an interview with newsmen  in Zaria on  the arrival of the train at about 2.00pm from Kano, said arrangements are in place to resume Kaduna to Kafanchan and Kaduna Kano train service.

He added that the train service from Kano to Lagos was suspended as a result of the luckdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Regional District Manager said the Minna-Kaduna rail mass transit has been active and the patronage is increasing per trip.

According to him,  since most of the routes were on narrow gauge, the corporation would strengthen its maintenance efforts to ensure hitch-free activities on the routes.

Adebiyi said the corporation has strengthened its collaboration with key security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to address vandalism on rail properties.

The RDM said the Federal Government’s. policy on project continuity is a welcome development which sees NRC enjoying such policy.

He also commended the commitment of the federal government on boosting the rail transport system in the country and  enjoined Nigerians to key into the programme.
