Enyinmba Football Club of  Aba Thursday at UJ Esuene stadium climbed up to third place on the NPFL table  as Mfon Udoh’s rocket secured a vital 1-0 home victory over Akwa United in Calabar.
The Uyo based outfit went into the encounter with high hopes of swimming out of the relegation waters, while the hosts were seeking a home victory to reduce cut points gap with leaders Plateau United to four.
Udoh failed to fire the home team in front in the sixth minute as Enyimba wasted several scoring chances in the opening half, but the visitors were also a match for the Aba based side.
However, it was the former Akwa United man who broke the deadlock in style from 20 yards in the 82nd minute to silence his former club.
The home win swells the People’s Elephants points to 13, four behind leaders Plateau United, while Akwa United remain stocked in 19th position with six points after seven games.
