The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority MallamHabibAbdullahi has assured the Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) of the Authority’s continuous support and cooperation in the discharge of its duties.
MallamAbdullahi gave this assurance today while receiving a delegation of the commission led by its Director General MallamAminuDiko in his Marina office, Lagos.
As a practical demonstration of this assurance the Managing Director directed that the Monitoring and Compliance Division should henceforth submit a copy of its quarterly reports to the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission.
Abdullahi remarked that it is commendable that ICRC is alive to its responsibility, which he said will give it the opportunity to get first-hand information on the challenges of the concession program and listen to observations from concessionaires
Mallam Abdullahi announced that a public private partnership department will be established to take care of investors’ interest in the nation’s seaports. While disclosing that some concession agreements which have expired have been extended because of investments by such concessionaires, he promised to facilitate the flow of information between the ICRC and concessionaires.
Earlier, the Director General of ICRC Mallam Aminu Dikko had congratulated Mallam Habib Abdullahi on his re- appointment noting that it is an indication of his dedication to duties and enjoined all civil servants to emulate him.
Diko disclosed that ICRC was established in 2005 for two major reasons; addressing physical infrastructure deficits and certifying projects by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and monitoring project compliance by concessionaires.
He told the Managing Director that ICRC is in Lagos to visit Lekki Deep-Sea Ports projects and the Kirikiri Light Terminals 1 and 2 with a view to ascertaining the level of infrastructure development and condition respectively.
The Director General Further thanked the Managing Director for the support he received at Delta Ports.
