Not Implementing Resolutions After Meetings, North’s Biggest Problem – Sultan

The Chairman of the Northern Council of Traditional Rulers,  Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Monday has decried lack of implementation of policies after a resolutions have been reach in various meetings.

Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III,  stated this at the emergency meeting of 19 Northern Governors  Forum held at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.

He noted that when an important issue is discussed, there is need to set up a time limit for proper implementation of the resolution.

” I learnt that last February we had a similar meeting and I want us to access how far we have gone in implementing those resolutions reached at that meeting.


“Because most of our problems is that when we discuss serious issues and reach resolutions, implementing becomes a problem ” .

He expressed readiness to always provide support and advise for the development of the region.

He said the presence of traditional leaders at the meeting is a clear testimony of their commitment, adding that they will always be ready to render support to discuss common issues affecting the region.

According to him, it is their duty and task and a religious duty not to fail whenever they  meet, adding that it becomes an important task not to disappoint Nigerians and Northerners.


Earlier in his welcome address, Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State said the meeting was aimed of tapping ideas from all governors from the 19 Northern states.


According to him, that the region is now faced with economic, security and other challenges affecting the country.


“Which have destroyed rural economy and many other challenges about federalism, it is for this reason that we converged for emergency meeting,” he said.
