The Association of English Wears, Jewellery and Cosmetics in the Northern part of Nigerian have resolved to boycott buying all forms of products from Abba, Onisha and Lagos markets due to the lingering face off including current hike in prices of products by the people.
The association made this known during a press conference in Jos, the state capital after the resolution by its members in Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, Niger Gombe and Abuja.
According to Abubakar Isah Muhammed who is the Chairman of the association in Plateau State while briefing newsmem, he blamed the Igbos who are the major sellers of the said products in the South-East and South-West of increasing price of products unnecessarily.
He alleged that the change in business transaction between Northern and southern traders in those areas was a deliberate attempt to ridicule the effort of the present administration to bring an end to economic hardship, adding that whenever they asked for the reason for the increment, they were being mocked that “it is your brother that causes” the increment and that “you were the one that voted him”.
They said, now, the prices of products were often doubled by their customers whenever they returned to the market, even as they said all the products currently sold to them were stock.
The association however said unless major traders in those markets reversed the price of products, they would stop patronising the markets.
The group further argued that those major traders would always hide under the banner of “dollar” to achieve their surreptitious objectives, adding that they would be patient for now.
