Northeast PDP stakeholders canvass for unity among party faithful

Concerned Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Northeast sub region weekend in Bauchi, rose from their reconciliatory meeting with an urge on Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to withdraw all pending litigations and recognize the National Caretaker Committee of the party to pave way for  new leadership.
A communiqué issued‎ at the end of the meeting held at Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi, signed by the meeting conveners, former governor of Adamawa state  Boni Haruna and former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Maina Waziri respectively was read by one Aminu Dagash.
The Communiqué took into cognizance the circumstances that produced the seeming problematic and intractable crisis that led to deluge of litigations which defied the internal conflict resolution mechanism of the party,
“We hereby resolve and call on Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to withdraw all pending litigations and recognize the National Caretaker Committee of the PDP in order to pave way forward for the party to have an all-inclusive national convention that will user in new leadership”, the communiqué said.
The communiqué said that the stakeholders have resolved to strengthen consultations at all levels of the party towards finding amicable and workable solutions to dispute prevailing and also deepen zonal action.
The stakeholders are also to engage other zones of the country towards repositioning the PDP as viable action and active opposition platform nothing that this is sin Qua non for the overall development and progress of democracy.
The communiqué disclosed that the stakeholders similarly agreed to set up committees towards actualization of all resolution reached, includes Central Working Committee, Contact and Mobilization as well as Strategy committees.
Concerned Northeast PDP stakeholders also resolved to carry out outlined responsibilities with view to repositioning the party for and on behalf of all patriotic and peace loving party faithful‎.
Those in attendance at the Zaranda Hotel members are former Taraba deputy governor, Umar Garba, Senator Grace Bent, Senator Abdull Ningi, Professor Ahmed Rufai, and former deputy governor of Bauchi state, Abdulmalik Mahmoud.
Others at the meeting include Amini Gagash, Barrister Ibrahim Jalo, Arc Bunu Sherif, and former Women Affairs Minister, Hajia Zainab Maina.
