Normalcy returns to Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic after students’ riot

Normalcy has returned to Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria following students’ violent demonstration at the main campus of the institution, which led to the destruction of property and setting the institution’s Security Patrol Van ablaze.
The aggrieved students took to the streets of the institution Wednesday, following the arrest of a thief in their Gobirawa off-campus hostel.
An eye witness, who pleaded for anonymity said students residing in Gobirawa have been complaining of incessant stealing in the hostel.
“Luck ran out for a thief when the students caught him while stealing their property.
“The students decided to lynch the thief but security outfit of the institution saved the life of the arrested thief and handed him over to the police in Zaria.
“The action of the security unit did not go down well with the students, who gathered at the security office protesting. They set the institution’s security patrol vehicle ablaze and destroyed property worth millions of naira in the institution.”
When contacted, the Deputy Rector of the institution, Chief Paul Abiong who confirmed the incident, however said he would not make any formal comment until he receive a clearance from Kaduna.
