The former National Legal Adviser of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olusola Oke has taken a swipe at his old party, the PDP while applauding the All Progressive Congress ( APC) for the practice of ‘internal democracy’.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after he was honoured with ‘Ondo State Golden Man Of  The Year 2015 Award’ by African Stride International in Akure, the Ondo state capital at the week, Oke said PDP has lost focus on internal democracy.
Chief Oke who is aspiring for the governorship of Ondo State on the platform of APC, disclosed that he decided to pitch his tent with the party because of series of Primary elections the party conducted in the 2015 general elections nationwide.
According to him, ”events in other states is a clear signal of what should be expected in the coming governorship election in Ondo State by October 2016” assuring of a positive change in the state.
While dedicating the award to ‘the poor people of Ondo state’, he decried the poor infrastructure in the state in the last seven years under the administration of PDP in spite of the huge availability of both human and mineral resources the state is endowed with.
Chief Oke who is a legal luminary by profession told the people to cast their votes for whoever emerges as the party’s candidate ”since all aspirants within the party are men of high integrity in their chosen careers”, adding that they should expect the best from APC government as from February 23, 2017.
The Guest Speaker at the occasion, Prof. Akinsola A. Agagu, Head of Department, Political Science, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti stressed the need to resuscitate the economic and industrialise the state by the political class.
He urged those aspiring for the number one job in the state to see the poor position of Ondo State in the face of economic challenges by putting in place those qualities the people see in them before voting them into power to improve the standard of the state.
Also, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Jamiu Ekungba said all aspirants are friends over the years and are ready to work with whoever emerges as the party’s candidate through a free and fair primary among them.
Other aspirants present at the award ceremony include, Dr Ayorinde of Achievers’ University and the incumbent Representative of Owo/ Ose local governments at the lower chamber of the National Assembly and Dr Olu Agunloye.
