NIS Rivers Command Produces 38,613 Passport Booklets In Six Months



The Passport Office of the Rivers State Command, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is at its optimum in the production of passport booklets, as it produced a total of 38,613 copies between February and July 2023.    

This is sequel of the encouragement by the command for online application and online payment to reduce the overcrowding and time wastage by applicants.

In a statement by the Comptroller Rivers State Command of NIS Sunday James obtained by our correspondent on Saturday b, the system has also improved on service delivery to the public through a Servicom help desk.        

James however, disclosed that close to 500 booklets of the passports are yet to be collected, just as he urged applicants  to keep to their appointment dates for capturing and collection.   

” As a take away from the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the service,the command has produced reasonable number of passports,as at the time of filing this report the passport office has produced between February and July,38,613booklets.          

” Many applicants are yet to collect their produced passport and the service is using this opportunity to call on anyone who was captured a month or two ago and others with very cogent reason giving and were captured for health and medically related issues or other urgency that is proven and confirmed have being produced awaiting collection.                            

” The Comptroller James Sunday PCC after his visit to the passport office advised the Passport Control Officer Audi Maisudan a Deputy Comptroller to step up action in the area of feedback and reaching out to applicants whose passports are already  produced to come and collect it and those with issues to be notified to enable them resolve their issues to clear pending cases and get the passports produced.     

” As a Command we are enjoining applicants captured a month or two ago,and those with genuine reasons bothering on life threatening medication abroad, Business, study and crucial issues for intervention to always start the process early,or go for the 10 year,64 page to save time and avoid the urgent rush syndrome.                             

” Students traveling abroad for study and families relocating are advised to pick up the 10-year, 64 page enhanced e-passport for their utmost comfort and ease of stay abroad.  

“:Close to 500 passports are awaiting collection,the public are notified by this statement to keep to their appointment dates for capturing and collection,” the statement reads.
