Ningi Gets New Emir, Haruna Yunusa Danyaya

A new emir of Ningi has emerged, Alh Haruna Yunusa Danyaya, following the death of the former, Alh. Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya who passed away last Sunday the 24th August, 2024 at the age of 88 years after a brief illness.

The new emir, Alh. Haruna Yunusa Danyaya ascended to the throne following the approval of the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed from the names of three candidates forwarded to him by a committee of kingmakers, earlier constituted by the state government.

Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya emerged victorious as the 17th Emir of Ningi among the 23 applicants from the three houses of the Ningi to succeed his father, late Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya, of blessed memory.

The letter for the appointment of the New Emir of Ningi was conveyed to the appointee by the secretary to the state government, Barrister Ibrahim Kassim Mohammed who led a delegation to the Ningi emirate council.

It reads, “This is to officially inform the general public that His Excellency Sen Bala Abdülkadir Mohammed CON , Fnipr ( Kauran Daular Usmaniyya ) the Executive Governor of Bauchi State has approved the appointment of Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya the eldest son of the late Emir as the 17th Emir of Ningi with a 1st Class status”.

A press statement signed by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado Mohammed said that the appointment of the new emir by Governor Bala Mohammed is in exercising the powers conferred on him by Cap. 24 Item 3 (1 ) of the laws of Bauchi State of Nigeria ( Appointment of Emirs / Chiefs and Deposition 1991 ) and the recommendation of the kingmakers .

According to the statement, the Bauchi state government has expressed l confidence in the ability of the new emir to continue the legacy of his late father in fostering unity, peace, and development in the Ningi emirate and Bauchi state as a whole.

It said that the state government under the inspirational leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed remained committed to supporting the traditional institution in the state for the crucial role they play in maintaining peace and peaceful co-existence among their communities.

Governor Bala Mohammed who prayed for the peaceful repose of the late emir’s soul , also extended his warm felicitations and prayers for good health, long life and successful reign of the new emir, Alh. Haruna Yunusa Danyaya

The new emir of Ningi, Alh Haruna Yunusa Danyaya was born in Ningi in 1956, and was until the new appointment, holds the title of Chiroman Ningi and the district head of Ningi. He is happily married with children.
