The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has donated Income Generation Palliatives to Kaduna Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr Bashir Jamo led the agency’s board member to deliver the items to Governor el-Rufai on Thursday in Kaduna.
He said the donations which come in three categories with the first, being an income generation palliative.
According to him, the income Generation palliative which is going to be used to make those who benefit to become self reliant as a means of livelihood
He said 240 persons will benefit under the self reliance palliative for direct and indirect employment.
“40 people are the direct leading while those that they would employ under them are the indirect and the value chain will continue to multiply.
“Items donated under the category are 15 sewing machines, 15 grinding machines, 15 work master welding machines, 50 hair clipper bags and complete barbing accessories, 40 Vulcanizing machines and 25 power Generators.
“Others are six tricyles (Keke Napep), eight motor cycles, 30 standing hair drier machines and make up box set.
“While in the second category, over 1,500 are to benefit from the items which are food and other household related items for people who are still resident at the IDps camp for immediate consumption, bags of rice, spaghetti, gari, yam tubers, beans, vegetable oil, noodles and seasoning among others,” he said.
The DG also said in the third category are educational materials 25 PC of desktop computers, 30 white board, 3 printers and text books for senior classes 1- 3.
While assuring the governor of continued support, he said Kaduna State University has been selected as a model university that they will build infrastructure.
“The infrastructure will come in a solid building where the governor will flag off the faculty building,” he added.
He said the gesture is part of its corporate social responsibility as a responsible agency.
“Not only to Kaduna State, but to all states of the federation. So far, we have distributed to over 26 state and Kaduna is the 27th”. He explained.
While extending his congratulations to the Governor for a successful conduct of peaceful Local Government Election in the state,
he said the state is one of those that conducted the automated voting system
Responding ,Governor Nasir el-Rufai appreciated the agency for the kind gesture and all positive things done in support of the state government.
He said he has shown real commitment as a good ambassador of the state at the federal government.
“I am very happy that you come with this intervention to support our IDPs as well as investment in our Tertiary institution”. He added.
