Nigerian universities charge on use of electronic learning library

Nigerian Universities have been called upon to take advantage of the electronic learning library in order to boost learning and research.
Professor Margee Ensigne President American University of Nigeria (AUN) Yola, who gave the call during the 99th Bi annual meeting of Association of University’s Librarian of Nigerian University (AULNU) at the AUN, Yola, maintained that, such efforts will go a long way in improving the quality of university education.
She however urged the need to inculcate the spirit of contributing to developments in the areas where the schools are located.
Margee went further to disclosed the spirited efforts made by the AUN in imparting positively on its immediate community in Yola where the school is located.
According to her, “the institution being a developmental University mission is to offer services to members of our greater community, and this is done through teaching staff of various institutions and organization how to benefit from electronic resources.
“Apart from this AUN also introduced the sharing of fudge e-books with institutions that lacks internet connectivity through Library on a flash (LOAF)” noting that over 70  institutions have so far benefited from the programme which contains over 500 e-books on a flash drive.
In her welcome address, the AULNU Chairperson Dr. Mrs. Blessing Ahiazu, showered encomiums on the Managements of the AUN for the developmental strides the Institutions has made since its inception.
According to her, the 99 Bi annual meeting at Yola is a home coming for the delegates as they have all come to AUN to get exposed to greater heights in University Learning System  through e-library.
Executive secretary, National University Commission (NUC), Professor Julius Okojie congratulated the AUN for hosting the 99 Bi annual meeting, noting that it is the first time the NUC will come in contact with the programme.
Okojie who was represented by Prof Felicia Etim, assured that the Commission is much on top of the challenges facing Nigerian University.
