Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has reduced the number of Lagos-Ibadan train services to two daily due to high cost of diesel.

Prior to the development, it was operating six trips daily.

Stressing that the development will affect the revenue drive of NRC,

Managing Director of the corporation, Engr. Fidet Okhiria, said that despite the rising cost of operations, it is outside the power of the corporation to increase train fare.

The railway sector contributed six billion Naira revenue last year, as gathered from news monitored in Lagos.
