A lecturer with Kogi State University, Rev. Dr. Joseph Onuche has identified lack of purposeful leadership as the bane of the country’s underdevelopment.

Speaking to New Nigerian in Kaduna, Dr. Onuche said “Nigerians are obedient,  they believed in their leaders. Look at the goodwill in which Nigerians voted President Buhari into power, it shows that Nigerians have absolute faith in the ability of their leaders to take them to their promised land.”

He urged Nigerians to continually believe in the government of the day, pray for them and support them to make sure they succeed.

He observed that, “The Church should be more vocal in preaching against corruption. We shouldn’t celebrate corruption at the pulpits. The Church should come out of mediocre,  the Church should contribute positively to policy development if it must succeed.

Making an assessment of the year 2016, Rev. Dr. Onuche thanked God for sparing the lives of Nigerians to witness the year 2017, but noted that Nigerians went through the hardest moment in the history of the country.

“2016 will be remembered as a year of economic recession and kidnapping. Though there was improvement in the security situation in the country, it will go in the history of this country where some parts were worst hit by incessant attacks leading to the lost of lives and property,” he explained.

He noted that in Southern Kaduna where many innocent people were killed in the name of herdsmen/farmers clashes, there was the need for proactive measures to bring to an end, the genocide on the part of government.

He added, “The state government should come out and call a spade a spade, those behind the evil act are known by the governor, he has settled them and l think he knows how best to ensure the restoration of peace in Southern Kaduna and the state as a whole.”

Rev. Dr. Onuche decried a situation where the present administration in the country has been blaming the past PDP government, stressing that most of those in governance were the same people that exploited the nation economy in the last 16 years.

He called on Nigerians to continue with their resilience and support the present administration towards ensuring an improvement in the nation’s economy.
