Nigerian clerics pray for successful election in Niger Republic

As the people of Niger Republic go to the polls for Presidential election, Nigerian clerics have urged the government of the French speaking country to conduct a transparent and peaceful elections.
According to the clerics, it is important for Niger republic to hold a free and fair election so as to avert crisis in the country and the region.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after holding  a meeting with Nigeriens community in Kaduna, leader of the Nigerians clerics, Pastor Yohana Buru said they were not expecting political crisis in Niger but only cautioning their politicians to avoid any act capable of causing crisis in that country.
He said citizens of Niger join Nigeria in prayers during the 2015 presidential elections and God answered the prayers.
“This is our turn to also join them in praying for a peaceful election. Niger and Nigeria are one because you can equally find tribes like Hausa, Kanuri in that country.
“They too prayed for us during our last presidential elections and are always praying for us to end insurgency in Nigeria. Now it is their turn and we must tell them we are together, we are their neighbor and we hope and pray for peaceful elections in their country too” he said.
District Head of Tudun Nupawa, Dr Yusuf Nadabo said the visit to the Nigeriens community was to strengthen peaceful relationship and co-existence between leaders of Niger Republic and Nigerian clerics and traditional leaders.
“We are calling on their leaders not to take the election as a do or die affairs and to accept defeat to avert crisis” he said.
Earlier, Secretary General High Council of Nigeriens Abroad, Sidil Ghabit Ahmat Tarwaq thanked the clerics and traditional leaders for their support to Niger community in Kaduna.
According to him, the election in his country is scheduled for 21 February, 2016.
“We have conducted our census of voters and we look forward to the date to vote our leaders. We pray the election will be as peaceful as that of Nigeria” he said.
Sidil Gahbit is also the coordinator Diplomat for Nigeria, Cameroun, Gabon and Republic of Congo.
