Nigerian Army Will Surpass 2017 Performance In 2018 – Buratai

The Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant-General Yusuf Tukur Buratai has declared that the Nigerian Army has resolved to remain totally responsive and apolitical.

Lt General Buratai made this known while speaking at the closing of the 5-day Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference with the  theme “Appraising Nigeria’s army operational efficiency in contending contemporary national security challenges”, held in Ibadan,

He stressed that without doubt, it was glaring that the Nigerian Army has lived up to its expectations of protecting, safeguarding the territorial integrity, sovereignty of Nigeria against any internal or external attacks as expected in 2017.

“We have resolved that Nigerian Army will remain total responsive and apolitical while reaffirming our total loyalty to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhamadu Buhari, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic.” he said.

Lt General Buratai added that the Nigeria Army will surpass its performances in 2018 having lived up to expectations this year,saying, “we  have been here throughout the week, we robbed minds to fraternise, we discussed issues patterning to the operation, general administration and the logistics of the Nigerian Army.

“This is quite apt at this point in time. As we approach 2018, we have reach quite number of resolutions which are aimed at, that will surpass our performance this year. On this note I want to assure that the decisions or resolutions arrived here would be judiciously implemented as we enter year 2018.”

“Permit me to say that Nigerian Army identified the core values of discipline, professionalism and responsiveness as important aspect to reposition being in side of the nation. The need for effective maintenance culture, continuous infrastructural development welfare of personnel, issues of effective operation was well brought out in the cause of our discussions.”

The Chief of Army Staff stressed further that “in this regard, we have agreed to prioritise and indeed judiciously use all available resources that will encourage all officers and  soldiers to perform optimally in their various commands.”

Lt General Buratai emphasized that the ” objective of the conference has been achieved” as  the Nigerian Army has performed creditably well in the year 2017,saying, “far reaching decisions were arrived at this conference,”.

While assuring that the Nigerian  Army is commtted  to ensuring  it remain apolitical in discharging its duties, Lt General Buratai said, ” let
me state here that the official secret act of the 1962 was to be applied strictly in the conduct of future army operations,”

“I will like to at this juncture ackowledge the tremendous support of his Excellency Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Executive Governor of Oyo State for his support and for being a very good host.
