As a consequence of the Nigerian Army Research and Development Policy in line with the Chief of Army Staff Training Directive 2022, the Nigerian Army Ordnance School
(NAOS) Epe has innovated a Man Portable Metal Detector.
The innovation will assist the Nigerian Army Engineers in conducting efficient Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) necessary to support troops in combat operations.
The project was successfully tested after completion on March 12, 2022,  in collaboration with Mechatronics Engineers resident at Epe Lagos State.
The device  will serve as a panacea to the menace of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on troops capability, reduce person and equipment casualties, reduce cost of procurement, develop spin off tech, and demonstrate indigenous capability to produce military hardware.
A prototype of the Man Portable Metal Detector was successfully tested at the NAOS Epe on 12 Mar 22 with the participation of the Commandant  NAOS Maj Gen AM Alabi, instructors and students of the institution.
