The newly appointed Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Chad, Her Excellency, Ambassador Lami Sauda Remawa-Ahmed paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) at Camp Farcha N’Djamena Chad on Tuesday.
A statement issued and signed by Lieutenant Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke, Chief of Military Public Information Officer, N’Djamena, Chad and made available to journalists in Maiduguri on Tuesday, said she was accompanied by the Defence Attachee of Nigeria to Chad, Col O.U. Eke and Minister (Political) in the Nigeria Embassy, Mr Nura Bappa Aliyu.
The Nigerian Ambassador who was received on arrival by the Force Commander (FC) MNJTF, Maj Gen Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim and briefed on the activities and achievements of the MNJTF among others, was given traditional ceremony at the military headquarters.
In her remarks, she commended the activities and efforts of the MNJTF and its various sectors in tackling the scourge of BHTs/ISWAP, while recalling the dark days when the Boko Haram terrorists were operating all over the Lake Chad Basin and causing havoc.
She said the tremendous efforts of the MNJTF and other security outfits have changed the narrative favourably, while commending officers and men of the force command for their commitment, courage and hard work which was largely responsible for the successes and achievements.
The Nigerian Ambassador also appreciated the political will of the leaders of the countries of the Lake Chad Basin, who came together to give life to this unique security outfit, while calling on the MNJTF to evolve strategies to end the conflict finally.
She ended by paying tributes to officers and men of the MNJTF who paid the supreme sacrifice in the quest for peace in the region and promised to always support the force command in its quest for total restoration of peace in the region.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Abdul Ibrahim Khalifa appreciated the Ambassador for finding time to visit Headquarters MNJTF and said the entire force command was honored by the gesture.
He also promised to continually take the fight to the criminals until they are totally rooted out as he called for more support to the MNJTF.
High point of the visit included presentation of souvenirs, signing of the visitors book and group photograph to mark the end of the visit.
In attendance were, the Deputy Force Commander, Brig Gen Assoualai Blama, COS and other senior officers of the MNJTF.
The visit was successful and hitch free.
