A Lagos-based African Democratic Congress (ADC) stalwart has expressed hope that Nigeria will outshine other countries, but the  feat will be achieved and manifest  only when citizens recognize credible and patriotic politicians and elect them to be in government.

Pastor Israel Akintola, the Director-General of Engr. Yomi Idowu Campaign Team, expressed the view in Orile Iganmu,  Lagos on Tuesday during a parley with South-West leaders of Coalition for Grassroots Mobilization Awareness (CGMA), a non-governmental organization (NGO).

Engr. Yomi Idowu is the African Democratic Congress (ADC)  candidate for Senate in Lagos Central Senatorial District for year 2023 elections.

Lagos Central Senatorial District comprises the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Apapa, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland and Surulere.

Akintola impressed upon the members of Coalition for Grassroots Mobilization Awareness the leadership qualities of Engr. Yomi Idowu, and the various laudable grassroots-oriented projects that he has been implementing in various communities in Lagos Central for the empowerment and skill acquisition of members of those communities.

According to Akintola, long before deciding to run for the post of a senator,  in addition to feeding the poor freely, Idowu has been organizing training and giving people financial support to start their own businesses on occupations such as liquid soap making, pastry making and other crafts, as well as the distribution of free POS machines to the youths in Lagos Central senatorial zone to enable them earn decent living. One of such programmes is coming up on Saturday 3rd of December 2022.

“When Nigeria will resurrect it will take over the rest of the world, but it is in our hands to do so,” the campaign team leader said while emphasizing that the senatorial candidate will ensure that Nigeria is rebuilt back up.

Akintola said that Idowu is coming out to change the narrative in Lagos Central, and therefore, told the electorate not to think that they are working for him, but for themselves.

“We’re in the project together. So, please, don’t see this as the man you’re working for. See this man as the symbol our struggle” for good governance.

“How long shall we continue like this? Look at this man here. Ordinarily you believe that you are working for him. I don’t see myself as working for him; I see myself as working for myself,” the campaign Director-General emphasized.

Other members of the campaign team who spoke on the occasion told Nigerians to regard anybody who offers them bribe to win their votes as a criminal.

They assured Lagos Central voters that the candidate will bring genuine human development to them, stressing that Engr. Yomi Idowu has been carrying out community service in Lekki and in other parts of the senatorial district.

Dignitaries who attended the meeting include the National President of CGMA and former gubernatorial candidate of Freedom and Justice Party, Prophet Joseph Ogebule, as well as CGMA national women leader and former senatorial candidate of Legacy Party, Princess Tina Remi Martins.
