‘Nigeria telecommunication master plan ready in three or four weeks’

Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has hinted that Nigerians will have a master plan for telecommunication industry “within the next three weeks or four weeks.”
Barrister Shittu dropped this hint in Saki, his country home at a civic reception organised in his honour by Oke-Ogun indigenes.
According to the Minister, his mandate as Communications Minister is to ensure that Nigerians enjoy the best of telecommunication services, assuring that he would not deviate from the mandate.
“Our responsibility is to ensure that we have best operating laws for the telecommunication industry. Within the next three to four weeks , we shall come up with the master plan for the telecommunication sector”, he said.
Barrister Shittu pointed out that “the telecommunication sector is a better alternative to oil, in terms of generation of revenue for the country, saying, if the sector is fully explored, it could provide jobs for the teeming Nigerians.
The Minister stressed that Nigerians should feel free to offer him advice and prayers to make him succeed, adding, “I did not offer money to anybody to secure ministerial appointment, so I won’t steal government money and nobody needs to pay any money to see me.”
Speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Gbade Alabi lauded federal government over Barrister Shittu’s appointment adding that there is the need for Nigerians  to be moderate in their demands from him.
Chief Alabi stressed further that the Minister should look to the development of Oke-Ogun area of Oyo state generally.
The reception was attended by the Oyo state Deputy Governor, Otunba Moses Adeyemo and traditional rulers, majorly from Oke-Ogun area of the state.
