Nigeria needs review of existing policies on youth empowerment – Sen Buhari

The Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District and Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cyberspace, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari has called for the review of existing policies on youth empowerment in the country.
Senator Buhari stated this in a paper entitled ‘Solving unemployment through entrepreneur ship training  in Ogled’ he delivered at the annual convention of Ogbomoso Sons and Daughters in North America (OSDNA)  held in Dallas Texas.
According to him, this was part of the possible ways to suppress the economic problem and increasing rate of unemployment in the country as well as to ensure effective accommodation and pragmatic entrepreneurial education of the youths.
Senator Buhari stated that this should be considered by the nation’s universities and after school as critical enabled for creating employment, raising life expectancy level which has consequential impacts on national sic economic development.
The Chairman  Senate Committee on ICT and Cyberspace pointed out that capacity building in term of skill and attitude, ability to set and pursue goals and good management practices are essential requirements for entrepreneurial success as such the government and private sector should accord much priority.
According to him, “adequate financial, physical and human resources should be provided by government and various stake holders not only for potentials but also for existing entrepreneurs” and that “enough incentive for students of vocational and technical schools. This will motivate them to establish their business after school”.
He then emphasized the need for the legislation of law that will support thriving of entrepreneur ship training in Nigeria by the National Assembly as well as the involvement of stake holders and private organization in complementing government’s effort in improving entrepreneur ship training in the country.
