National Chairman of the National Action Council (NAC), Dr Olapade Agoro  on Friday declared that Nigeria needs strong minded individuals with clean minds and clean hands to run the affairs of the country as recently stated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dr Agoro who also embraced the call for a national coalition stated this in Ibadan during a chat with newsmen.

“The kind of leader needed in Nigeria now is the one who can confront the myriad of problems facing the country, rather than those failures parading themselves in the political corridor.” he said

According to Dr Agoro, Nigeria “is yet to have in place the right type of politicians who are committed and as well ready to move the country forward., saying, those at the helm of affairs in the presently are not committed to the course of the masses.

“What we have now are bunch of political harlots who have nothing good to offer the Nigeria. That is why the country continues to battle with series of socio – economic and political problems.” .

On the 2019 general elections, Dr Agoro stressed Nigerians should avoid a situation whereby  the next Nigeria’s President would come  from among the crop of corrupt politicians, who are hell bent on using stolen public money to impose themselves on Nigerians.

The NAC National Chairman pointed out that as a result of the socio economic and political complexities of Nigeria, the kind of President the country needs at this critical period must be highly informed and knowledgeable with leadership know – how and capabilities.

” We have learnt a lesson in Barack Obama, s black American with zero percent chance to become the US President, who did not have strong financial capabilities. But came to the office knowing what to do.
Obama came into the office when American economy was totally at a base level. Yet, he built the economy back with nine months. And more so, the greatest security challenge facing America then was Osama Bin Laden, and he was able to bring that to an  end to the surprise of the whole world.”

He however lashed out at the state governors and ministers asking President Muhammadu Buhari to go for a second term, describing them as praise – singers, who do not mean well for both the President and Nigeria.
