Nigeria Army kills two armed bandits, arrest one in North-West

In a follow up operations being conducted by 1 Division of  Nigerian Army, the troops along Maganawa village in Maru local government of Zamfara State engaged some bandits in a shootout which led to the death of one of the bandits.
The troops recovered a locally made dane gun with some rounds of 7.62 mm rounds from the suspect.
This was contained in a statement by Colonel Usman Abdul, Deputy Director Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian Army made available to newsmen.
In a related development, troops of 2 battalion in Kaduna while on mobile patrol along Dogon dawa -Maidaro road, engaged some armed bandits who had attempted to kidnap an innocent person in his farm.
The armed bandit on sighting the troops fired on the troops but was immediately gunned down. Items recovered on him include; 1 Ak-47 riffle, 22 rounds of 7.62 mm special, 2 ammunition carrying magazines and 2 mobile handsets.
This increased the number of criminals killed during the operations to two.
Also troops of 223 tank battalion along Kusa bayan dutse in Birnin Magaji local government area of Zamfara state encountered pockets of armed bandits.
“Although, no casualty was recorded but few of them escaped with some gun shots wounds. Some of the items recovered include; 1 Ak-47 riffle, 1 magazine, quantity 13 rounds of 7.62 mm special, 2 motorcycles which were burnt at the scene.
“A suspected bandit who is believed to be their errand boy was apprehended at Gusami market in Birnin Magaji and he is presently undergoing interrogation.
“The Division would like to once again assure the general public that the ongoing operations against armed bandits, cattle rustling and other criminal activities especially as it affects the region would be sustained to safeguard lives and properties of all citizens,” he said.
The statement also said troops of 2 battalion in Kaduna North-West Nigeria while on mobile patrol along Dogon Dawa-Maidoro road engaged some armed bandits who had attempted to kidnap an innocent person in his farm.
