As Nigeria celebrates its 61st anniversary for Independence Day that was gained back in 1960, the Northern Youth Movement in Politics (NYMiP), has joined all well-meaning Nigerians in the celebration jubilation for which their grandparents won the first and most crucial battle of their freedom.
In a press statement signed by the Northwest Coordinator NYMiP, Amb. Shuaibu S. Gomna issued to journalist in Kaduna on Thursday, explained that they can still feel the taste of freedom with independency and watch in awe with pride as the Green-White-Green flag furls so high.
He added that, Nigeria has been an enigma to ordinary citizens and erudite scholars alike as it has outlived a plethora of experts predictions about the possibility of it remaining as a single entity but still here they are living through the thick and the thin as one because the similarities that brought us together are more than the difference that are threatening to put us apart.
He said “Today is a day to invoke the memories of the brave men and women that championed the struggles for our liberation; men and women that achieved martyrdom for the flag to soar high, We salute you all and appreciate your sacrifices for giving us today.”
“Remembering our past is extremely important but we also have to think about building our future and strive to remain as one as we do everything possible to keep our freedom and carry it through the years.”
“We will like to call on the government, to add more fuels on the fight against the difficulties engulfing the nation, more especially the insecurity challenges of Kidnappings, armed banditry, insurgency, and other criminal elements within the nation.”
According to the Northwest Coordinator, although commendable efforts are still ongoing by the government in curtailing the hydra headed monsters, which keeps sending bad signals to the notorious culprits about their ends.
“We must shun all divisive tendencies and unite. Our youths as the trustees of posterity’s must take stance for the ordinary masses and reflect on their worth.”
“They must remain patient, determined, patriotic, motivated and law abiding, they should work and toil towards creating an “inclusive society” instilled with the spirit of love, compassion and forbearance that promotes peace and goodwill.”
“We must love our Country and work towards its greater attainment. As you celebrate today, always have it in mind that no nation is perfect and it can only be made perfect by me and you.” He says
Amb. Sha’aibu Gomna, prayed for the country to continue remaining safe and healthy, while move forward with a renewed energy to achieve the common goals of the nation’s progress.
