The Nigerian Correctional Officers Wives Association (NICOWA) Akwa Ibom State Chapter on Monday, donated some gift items to inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Center, Uyo.
The donation, which showed compassion and love to the inmates, include food, clothing, toiletries, baby diapers, sanitary pads, and other essential supplies to help improve the living conditions and provide some comfort and relief to the inmates.
The Chairperson of the Association and wife of the State Controller of Corrections, Mrs Angela Ezugwu, represented by Mrs. Idorenyin Archibong, admonished the inmates to see their incarceration as an opportunity for self-reflection.
She further encouraged them to fully engage in the rehabilitation and reintegration programs of the Center
According to the Public Relations Officer Nigerian Correctional Service, ASC Richard Metong, the visit by NICOWA to the Uyo Center is an initiative undertaken by the Association to support and uplift incarcerated individuals as well as contribute to the overall rehabilitation and reintegration process.
