NGO attributes sustainable peace in Kaduna to enlightenment by the mass media

The lasting peace being experienced in Kaduna State has been attributed to wider enlightened and education on peaceful coexistence by Journalists.

Pastor Yohana Buru made the assertion when he led the team of the Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation (PRRF) a Non Governmental Organization on a thank you visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council at its secretariat saying that Journalist have always availed them in covering activities that promote a peaceful coexistence.

According to him the NGO which have been in existence for over
four years was established to promote peace among and between the Christians and Muslim in the state.

According to the Pastor, in their effort to ensure peace, the NGO has been bringing religion leaders and traditional rulers together in order to brainstorm on ways for a peaceful coexistence.

The Pastor while expressing appreciation to Journalists for their support throughout 2015, said his association has been able to helps over 500 internally displace people from Maiduguri and other trouble places back to their various homes and still helping those at the displace centres in Kaduna state.

He noted that his association was able to achieve a lot through the cooperation of Journalists and therefore solicited for more support in 2016.

In his remark, the founder of the Nigas Rehabilitation and Skill
Acquisition Training Centre,  Mallam Lawal Yusuf Muduru said there are associations carry out  activities that have direct impact on  the development of their immediate communities but have not been heard as result of their inability to carry the media along.

According to him, part of the NGO’s vision is also gained toward ensuring a drug free society among youths.

While expressing his gratitude to the clerics, Kaduna State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Garba Muhammad expressed delight with the recognition accorded to journalists by the foundation.
He expressed readiness to collaborate with the founder in the area of peace promotion. Comrade Garba said the state council of journalists is ready to work in the area of peace with any group or individual.

He lauded the effort of the foundation for alleviating the suffering of the internally  Displace People (IDPs) and assured them of the continued support of Journalists.
