NGHA receives Medium Term Expenditure Framework for 2017-2019

Niger State House of Assembly has received the 2017-2019 state Medium Expenditure Framework from the Executive arm for scrutiny.
 
The Legislative arm on Wednesday gave its committees on Appropriation and Finance two weeks to study and report back to the House it’s analysis of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for the, 2017-2019 as presented by the Executive.
 
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Ahmed Marafa while giving the directive to the committee, explained that the law provided that the MTEF must be passed at least three months before the presentation of the budget by the Executive arm of government.
 
House leader, Alhaji Isah Ibrahim (representing Rijau) who presented the framework to the House at its 69th sitting, however did not give details of the contents of the MTEF.
 
The Speaker, Hon. Marafa urged the House to expedite action on the report saying it was necessary that the legislature act fast in order to respect the provisions of the law.
 
The House agreed that the committees on Appropriation and Finance should report to the committee of the whole House on the 26th of this month for further actions.
 
The House also referred the bill for the establishment of the Niger State Bureau for Religious Affairs to the committee on religious affairs after the bill had passed through second reading at the floor of the House.
 
The Speaker directed the House committee on religious affairs to submit its report to the House at plenary on November 10th, this year.
The bill seeks to have a body in the state to regulate religious activities particularly outdoors religious activities.
