UK Aid Funded NGO Moves To Resolve Conflict In Zamfara Community

The International Alert, an NGO funded by UK Aid has conducted a two-day capacity building for community dialogue members and leaders on conflict and management in two local government areas of Zamfara state.
In an interview with journalists shortly after declaring the meeting open on Monday  at Command Guest in Gusau, the Senior Project Officer International Alert in charge of Zamfara State, Steven John said that the aim of the meeting is to brainstorm on conflict and gender sensitivity, analysis, advocacy and dialogue facilitation.
According to him, the participants were drawn from Tsafe and Birnin Magaji local government areas, which includes, traditional and religious leaders as well as men and women respectively.
“International Alert is peace loving organization that is building community resilience and promoting peace and stability in the community and we shall strive to ensure peace and justice in community in Zamfara State,”  he said.
He explained that the organization is working round the clock to ensure access for justice to prevail in a community considering Zamfara State is one of the states facing the challenge of insecurity.
According to him, the meeting will identify some of the factors that causes conflict and grievances in community and find out modalities in managing the escalation of the challenge in Zamfara State. 
He enjoined participants of the meeting to exhibit what they have learnt to their respective community through advocacy and awareness campaign to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the state.
