State 2 State Engages Gombe Information Managers On  Development Of  Draft Standard Operational Procedures

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded activity titled, State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State 2 State) has organized a three days capacity building training workshop for information managers on the development of Standard Operational Procedure (SOP).

Speaking shortly before the commencement of the workshop which was held at Custodian Hotel Gombe in the state metropolis, the State 2 state Communications Specialist, Israel Onu Odiba said that the objective of the workshop is to enhance the understanding of the participants and guides them  towards the development of SOP for improve service delivery 

Israel said that the workshop will also help in deepening the understanding of the participants on the SOP structure and components

He highlighted the areas expected to be covered to includes the roles and responsibilities, communication channels, reporting mechanism, quality assurance, and feedback.

Other areas will also focus on the presentation of effective writing for SOPs, Communication protocols, social media management amongst others.

Earlier while declaring the workshop open, the State Team Leader, Mohammed Abubakar Kumo took the participants through the mission and vision of State 2 State in Gombe from inception to date and assured that the project will further engage other critical stakeholders in major operational areas in achieving it’s objectives in the state.

In her keynote address, the Gombe State Field Office State 2 State Local Government Manager, Hajiya Zariyatu Abubakar Habu Hashidu welcomed the participants and appreciated the Ministry of Information for the opportunity to organize the training, while calling on the beneficiaries of the workshop to be proactive in order to effectively grab the knowledge that is going to be impacted,  saying that State 2 State will always support the ministry on the angle of communication strategy for enhance performance and effective flow of information.

She further said that State2state will always Collaborates with the   ministry of information to bring interventions to ensure that it has a clear consistent guidelines for it’s internal and external public

In  goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Ibrahim Suleiman represented by the Director Administration and Finance Alhaji Murtala Sambo, Director Information Richard James and the Gombe State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Saidu Bappah Malala commended State2state for organizing and funding such a very important training for information officers to equip them with the knowledge of the drafting and development of SOP to enhance performance.

Describing  the training as timely, especially looking at the changes in the system, they added that it will go a long way in improving the capacity of the participants to confirm with the current realities found in the profession.

They called on the beneficiaries of the training to avail themselves the opportunity the workshop offered to further build their capacity to deliver what is expected.

The participants appreciated State2state for organizing the training and assured of using the knowledge acquired is put into practice for effective service delivery.
