Network Of Peace Journalists, CMMRC Condemns Southern Kaduna Killings



The Network of Peace Journalists in partnership with Conflict Mitigation and Management Regional Council (CMMRC), has condemned the recent killings in Southern Kaduna that claimed the lives of nine persons with many reported injured, while other persons have not been accounted for.

In a statement jointly signed by Ibrahima Yakubu, team lead Network of Peace Journalism, Ibrahim Yusuf Chairman CMMRC and Silas Kure PRO CMMRC Kaduna State while issued to newsmen on wednesday in Kaduna, expressed shock over the unfortunate attacks on community members of a community of Zangon Kataf LGA of Kaduna State.

According to the statement, as a peacebuilding structure, they totally condemn the manner of such attacks and call on the security agencies and the Kaduna State government to do the needful in terms of arresting the perpetrators of such dreadful acts.

“We further appeal to all the relevant government agencies responsible to do more in terms of protection of lives and property to ensure that communities are given the needed protection and to be provided with relief materials to the affected persons.

“We continue to solicit for more understanding among the religious groups and youth to ensure to continue to support for peace at all levels, seeing that they have strong influence in terms of peace and unity, as we continue to pray for peace in affected localities in Kaduna State and the nation at large.”

Meanwhile, they commiserated with the families of those that have lost family members and the entire people in that region over the unfortunate incident.

“We would like to conclude by extending our condolences over the devastating situation and hope that peace will prevail in Kaduna State,” the statement said.

The Network of Peace Journalists and CMMRC equally applauded the efforts being made by the state government for restoring peace and unity in the region.
