NEMA’s Campaign On Public Safety Yielding Fruits – Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has hailed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on its vigorous campaigns on disaster prevention, saying that the efforts are paying off.
Commanding Officer  2 Battalion,Lt. Col U.A.  Mohammed gave the commendation in a goodwill message at the NEMA North West Zonal Office Kaduna Stakeholders Consultative Meeting at Gusau Institute, Kaduna on Wednesday April 20, 2022.

“NEMA is on the right track for taking along other stakeholders inits programme towards disaster management and mitigation.
” Its campaign on public safety and disaster consciousness has gone along way in reducing the rate of major accidents and disaster inNigeria,” he said. 
Represented by Second Lieutenant P.E. Chukwudum at the stakeholders meeting, he said NEMA’s activities have ensured  effectiveness in coordination of responseagencies and dispatchment  of relief materials to disaster victims.

“It is worthy to note the commitment and passion of theerector General e towards training of all response agencies in the county without discrimination,” he added.
The Commanding Officer congratulated NEMA’s  positive outlook which can be attributed to the dynamic leadership in the agency and the collaboration and partnering with relevant segments of the society. 

Speaking further, he said that importance of NIgeria Army’s role in Aid to Civil Authority cannot be over-emphasized.
“The military, apart from its primary responsibility which is the defence of the territorial integrity of the nation is also charged withother responsibilities. 
“These responsibilities are secondary roles which are carried out in form of aid to civil authority. 
“The military often carryout these roles when called upon in conjunction with government non-governmental, local andinternational humanitarian organizations/ agencies
“The Nigerian Army (NA) has been in the forefront in renderingAid to Civil Authority when called upon. 
“The current securitychallenges have over stretched the NA in terms of man power andresources. 
“However, this has not hindered the NA from rendering anAid to Civil Authority during National emergencies/ Disaster. 
“This unit 2 Battalion has been carrying out Aid to Civil Authority tasks in several locations within its Area of operations,” he explained.
